ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI

ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI (OUATIM) is a about the emergence of mafia in Mumbai. The movie depicts the crime scenario in Mumbai during the 70s and later period. The movie is all about power and style of ruling underworld by two individual of different age-groups and ideologies. Unlike the other underworld movie where high focus is on the violent part of mafia OUATIM throws light on how an ordinary man rose to his powerful status in the underworld, generation following his footsteps to fame and the rise and fall in the underworld along with the Mafia style romance.
Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgan), an orphan comes to Mumbai in his early childhood and makes his way out by doing “what government doesn’t permits” in his own right way and emerges as the powerful king of Underworld. Following his footsteps the next generation over ambitious Shoeb (Eemran Hashmi) comes to Sultan and impresses with his style and courage. In between there is hide & seek and war of brains between Shoeb and Agnel (Randeep Huda), ACP of Crime Branch. Then there arises the clash of ideologies between the two powers and in comes the changed face of underworld.
OUATIM is quite enjoyable and convincing because of powerful dialogues, strong background score and power pack performances by lead actors. Director Milind luthra has successfully combined the life of underworld’s most powerful personalities (Haji Mastan & Dawood). Director has convincingly recreated fascinating drama and the retro from the ‘70s.
Ajay Devgan is superb as Sultan, even though he has played similar role in COMPANY but still he differentiates Sultan with his intense acting Eemran is fantastic as wicked Shoeb and proves that he is one of the best in portraying bad boy. Kangana has done good job, where as Prachi doesn’t impress at all. Randep huda has again proved his potential and it seems he is specialist in roles related to Police and Mafia. Story is good but fails to bind parts sometimes, but it compensates with well written start and climax. Dialogues are very powerful and music is good.
Go for it as it offers you a different underworld story with slight touch of romance.

Last week I watched movie"3 Idiots" & still its all over my mind. Since our childhood our race of competing begins & keeps on going till we die in one or other form.
We always study, not to learn but only to earn. We do jobs because it pays more not because we love doing it.This race, this competition & this adjustment is unknown hidden fact behind most of our problems & dissatisfaction.

We always compete with others, in this process sometime we miss the actual learning.I strongly believe that we should compete with ourselves, rather than competing with others.
We always crib about problems in society & country, but actually we are the reason behind it.
We break traffic rules & then bribe, wearing seat-belt & helmet is a big problem for most of us.
We waste water, electricity because we are paying for it and we forget that many people in country still struggling for it. We bribe to get seats thus eliminating a deserving candidates
But Have you ever thought what have you done for country?, what efforts we make to eliminate these problems. How much you have contributed to uplift the society.
If You have not thought till now START THINKING & ACT

Urdu poetry

Hi all

we all find some new interests in various stages in our life.
I have also recently developed a interest in reading hindi-urdu poetry.
its a great experience in itself and I am sharing a one of my favorites here on the blog

log har mor pe ruk ruk k sambhalte kyun hain
itna darte hain to phir ghar se nikalte kyun hain

main na jugnu hun diya hun na koi tara hun
roshni wale mere nam se jalte kyun hain

nind se mera talluq hi nahin barson se
khwab aake meri chat pe tahalte kyun hain

Morh hota hai jawani ka sambhalne k liye
aur sab log yahin ak phisalte kyun hain

Cricket Season is back

Ever since my childhood I have been a great fan of cricket. I really miss my gally cricket in Delhi and the days when we friends use to bunk the classes to play cricket during school days.

After completing the graduation immediately I got the job & i was not in touch with the game on the ground but followed it on my TV set.

Now when I am back to college again I can feel the same passion for the game in me.

Recently played some practice game in college and it seems that the spark is still there. Hopefully more opportunities will be there in coming days .

After a long wait finally Indian cricket team is back on field and this time the MEN IN BLUE will be battling for the number 1 spot in the one day internationals.

Tri Series has already started between India, New Zealand & Srilanka and in within a week's time champions trophy will provide full on entertainment to all cricket lovers.

Filmy Friday: KAMINEY; Watch out Shahid's BEST performance

Dear All
After so many months finally Box Office has got the BEST movie of 2009
KAMINEY is very much different from the normal hindi movies, but you will surely like this taste.
It is about two twin bothers Charlie, a small gangster who pronounces S as F and Guddu,a NGO worker who stammers (both played by Shahid Kapoor) living life in their own way to fulfill their dreams.
Things take turns when Guddu comes to know that his GF Sweety(Priyanka Chopra) who is sister of a powerful gangster-politician bhope(Amol Gupte) is pregnant & asks him to marry. On the other hand Charlie gets 10 crore drugs & involves into police, mafia, bhope & hence their life takes big twist & turns.
First 15-20 min might confuse you because so many different incidents takes place and there are more than 10 characters in the movie that plays a vital role in story, so be attentive.KAMINEY will definitely provide you unconventional style, good script with great performance & dark humour also.

Watch it out for the superb performance by Shahid Kapur, who has delivered the carrier best performance her. KAMINEY might establish him as a main stream actors as well. Hats of to Vishal Bharadwaj for twisty plot and paces it flawlessly with unconventional dark gangster drama.
Shahid have surely emerged as a high potential actor & has credibly played two different characters. Priyanka has also played her character well with fluent marathi.Vishal Bharadwaj has provided ample space to every character in movie.Screenplay is fantastic as it relates every incident very beautifully & music is already a hit with biggest chart buster "Dhan ta nan". Another great work by vishal bharadwaj is use of 70's music in some places where it really adds to the value
Overall it is a must watch movie for all, specially if like 'hatke' films.
My rating will be 4 out of 5 for this movie.

Essence of life

Hi all

Life has many colors in it & we somehow go through different phases in life to experience these colors of life. Some sweet, some sour, some exciting & some are tough.

I am also feeling all these experiences these days. Around a month & half back when I suddenly decided to do MBA I moved to bangalore from Delhi where I spent most of life, I was very excited about the new life ahead & new challenges ahead as I was moving out for the first time.

I moved in, got settled , joined the college & started a new chapter of life and then suddenly realized the feeling of belonging ness, importance of relationships, friends & family.
Although most of us stay connected with friends & family through phone, chat , orkut, facebook etc but the feeling of their presence is quite unique which cannot be replaced by these modes.

I have realized now friends are so important to unintentionally share small, silly, stupid things of life which reduces all stress nd depression. The feeling of being there by family is so magical & inspiring that boost up the confidence unknowingly.

I might sound home sick but the fact will remain same for me & for many of us who feel the same way. But life is also all about moving on & on. That's life

Filmy Friday: LOVE AAJ KAL

Hi All
This weeks blog in Filmy Friday is about today's release LOVE AAJ KAL
It is all about Jai (Saif) and Meera (Deepika) who are a modern-day couple in London. They are very happy together, but do not believe in love & marriage. After dating each other for 2 years they decide to call off their relationship, when Meera plans to move to India to pursue her carrier.
Now enters Veer(Rishi kapoor) who tells Jai about his generation love & his love story & make him understand the passion of love. Movie takes many turns as Jai & Meera meets & separates again & finally realises their love for each other.

Interestingly plot is very new for bollywood, specially targeted for Youth & very well handled by Director Imtiaz Ali.
Saif has done a fabulous job in playing the flirty Jai & especially serious scenes in climax.
Deepika has also done a good job. As a glam girl she rocks, but she still needs more improvement
Rishi Kapoor was fantastic as usual. Also girl who played Harleen's character is very convincing.

Cinematography & music is very good. All tracks are already hit in market.
Story wise movie has some loose points. Firstly both the new generation & old generation story runs parallel to each other, so if you are not attentive, you might loose the plot. Secondly many will not understand how Saif is Playing young Rishi Kapoor in movie. Thirdly the complexity of relationship is too much & few incidents do not match practicality & thus effects the interest in movie.

Over All this proves to be a good movie with new concept, but for few it would be a One time watch only.

FILMY WEEKEND

Hi! all
I am sharing here my views with you about the recent movie I watched
First one is most hyped & with Hollywood stars KAMBAKHT ISHQ
The movie is all about a Indian stuntmen in Hollywood(Akshay), who thinks himself a stud & a so sophisticated model cum practicing medical student(Kareena) who are into a stupid battle of their ego, accompanied by some useless characters like Aftab, amrita, javed jaferry & bindu.

Story is absolutely pathetic with no clues, logic & sense. Screenplay & direction are even more worst.
Songs are fine but on most of the occasion not required in the movie
Akshay kumar is most disappointing part of the movie, he is getting stereotyped by performing same sort of characters & repeated comedy
Kareena kapoor is only for display of her size zero figure & boring di
splay of acting talent(which actually doesn't exists).
Aftab is there as usual with nothing to deliver with Amrita Arora, who is only there to complement kareena in skin show.
Another upset of movie is non utilization of some big names from Hollywood like Slyvester Stallone, Brenden Routh & Denise Richards.

As per my view this movie has proved to be a masala film, with no story & proper base with most of the ingredients missing. It could have been better if story could have a better hold & some scope for some talented actors.

My rating fwill be or this movie will be 2.5/10

looking forward for your comments

Amit
